[ Thankfully Chizuru does take that hour she suggested very literally - making sure that she doesn't show up even a single minute later than that. Even if it meant that she had to rush a little with dolling herself up, but that's effort she doesn't mind making for a date.

The only downside is that she feels a little self-conscious as she shows up. Especially since the dress she's wearing isn't really her usual typical old Japanese style - so she just has to guess as to whether or not it truly looks nice on her. She did at least realise it'd be a little cold for this time of year, so she did bring her haori with her to throw on over it in case she'd get cold.. She's done her hair up with some accessoires in here, and she's even wearing earrings. It's definitely not the amount of effort Chizuru would throw into her day-to-day look, but.. i-it's a Valentine's date!!

It's important!

The moment Chizuru spots Jinx, she'll make sure to jog up to the other girl. Her cheeks flushed with worried embarrassment about the way she looks right now, but still trying to smile at the other. ]

H-Hi. I hope I'm not late..?

( jinx's outfit is such a contrast to chizuru's. and despite the two of them both being girls, one can tell from a mile away which is way more feminine than the other. not that jinx is against dressing girly, she'll do it from time to time. it really depends on her mood. her hair isn't in her twin braids but instead just one big long one that still travels down to her ankles.

with her hands in her jacket pockets and looking over at the carnival, she hears someone rushing towards her. the blue haired girl tilts her head over to that direction and sees the rabbit coming over with red cheeks. and jinx is quiet for a moment; pink eyes peering up and down at the other's outfit as she huffs and puffs. the one thing that immediately comes in her mind is: damn. chizuru looks... fucking amazing. amazing enough that her own heart skips and plummets down to her stomach with the butterflies. )

You're not late at all.

( she says warmly as she approaches her; closing the gap. and when she is close, jinx leans in to the girl's ear -- tone sweetly: )

You look beautiful...

( and then plants a soft kiss on her cheek before leaning back.)

[ Maybe Chizuru should have expected to hear those words. After all - Jinx sure is a heck of a lot more forward than Chizuru herself is. Of course she would say those words so easily.

.. but it also means that Jinx actually mean those words, that she's being honest, and that fact only makes Chizuru blush even more in the face of all of this. One of the girl's hands raises up to her cheek - the one Jinx kissed just now - to gently touch there, feeling the heat of her cheeks in the light of the compliment. ]

Y-You think so?

[ She knows Jinx wouldn't lie about it, but then again - when has Chizuru ever been good at accepting a compliment.

Never. That's when. ]

I.. um, I was hoping it wasn't too much.. [ Since it feels a little like too much. Chizuru usually never dresses up this way.

But this is a Valentine's date. She has to do her best! ]

But if you like it, then I'm glad... A-And you look really nice too!

But considering how little Chizuru knows about modern fashion, the way Jinx is dressed up is just as fancy as the way Chizuru is currently dressed, for all she knows. ]

( with a tiny blush, she grabs a hold of the other's hand -- leading them further into the carnival. ) So! I've been at this place only once. They got a lotta fun games, rides, and food.

( and it's a lot pretty bright and slightly noise, but it's nothing too alarming for her to deal with. and as jinx guides them further in, she keeps close as she intertwine her fingers more to chizuru's. )

I like the games.

[ The last time the carnival rolled around Chizuru had been entirely new to this place - and much too confused by everything to really indulge in it. But she does remember some things about it vaguely, and she remembers the games even better since some of them have rolled back around since.

So while the rides seem a little overwhelming, though she may try them later if Jinx wants to ride some.. Chizuru can at least give this as a genuine initial answer. ]

I'm not really good at them. [ She admits, swinging their joint hands a little bit. ] But they're fun anyway! And some of them have really cute prizes..

Yeah, they are pretty fun although some are a lil' rigged. ( and when jinx played a rigged game? the result wasn't pretty. but she's going to behave this time around and look for one that isn't going to mess with her mood. )

Ooo! — ( she points out to a game that's ahead of them. ) How about we do that one?

( the booth seem pretty colorful with a few lights. it seems to be a carnival game where one aims a toy gun at some targets that needs to be knocked over. it's right up jinx's alley since she built a game back home similar to this. )

And the prizes are cute, too.

( a lot of stuffed bears, penguins, octopus, dogs, etc. )

[ As they approach the stall, Chizuru is definitely staring at it - but the reason her eyes slowly grow wider with awe has absolutely nothing to do with the actual game itself. She's not even looking at the toy gun, nor the targets.

.. no, she's staring much higher up. High enough to see the prizes that are hanging off the stall. They're all so cute.. Chizuru is so weak to things like these.. ]

[ The girl almost sounds mesmerized. These cute plush animals are hypnotizing her, clearly. ]

I've never even seen some of these animals before.. But they're all so cute! Every single one..!

Then I'm gonna win you one. ( with a big grin on her face, jinx takes the lead while tugging chizuru along. ) Come on!

( unlike her crazy speed during the frostquake, jinx makes sure she is jogging enough that the other isn't tripping over or need to be out of breath. these last few months, the teen's been doing a lot of training with her legs and different set of paces. and she feels she's gotten the hang of it; knowing when to let her shimmer side take full control or ease off.

and when the two of them make it to the stand, the blue-haired girl takes one more lookover to investigate. the local who is running the game appears a little unsettled and he should be. because as stated, this exact game was something she built back home so she knows a thing or two on how one can make it defective. )

( but this one seems to be honest, so jinx fishes into her pocket to see what she has on her as payment to play. and out she pulls out a coin -- something she found washed up on farther shores the day before. with it place on the counter, the local scoops up the coin, examines it, then accepts it -- shoving it in his own pocket.

excited now, she lifts up the gun then a look to chizuru. )

[ Considering Jinx makes it so easy for Chizuru to keep up with her, the girl is indeed not out of breath or too tired at all when they reach the stall.

And that, in turn, leaves the opportunity for the girl to keep starting at all the prizes, absolutely marveled by them. Perhaps even more so now she's this up close to all of it. The upside for Jinx here is that it makes Chizuru completely miss the exchange between her and the owner of the game, which means there's no fussing about Chizuru saying that she should pay or something..

.. no, it's only Jinx's voice that snaps her out of it, her gaze suddenly returning to the other girl, looking every inch like she just woke up from a dream. ]

H-Huh? I have to pick one?

[ Look, she's not actually going to ask for more than one. It's just that it's so hard to pick with all of this on display! ]

Then.. um..

[ She pauses, and then she points up - at the penguin. ]

I've never seen a bird like that, but it's so cute.. Would it be okay if I asked for that one? [ Because of course she has to ask that. Just to make sure. Despite Jinx already having said she'll win one for her..

But this is Chizuru we're talking about. If anything, this is bold by Chizuru's standards of asking for stuff. Usually she might not even have thought of owning one of these cute plush animals for herself, but she's at least going along with this much. ]

( she smiles before leaning in give the other a quick peck on the cheek. ) Whatever my Rabbit wants. — Oh, you might wanna take a step back or two.

( to get more space and in case she doesn't accidentally whack chizuru when she raises her toy gun or something. so the game starts: the booth runner explains there are three rounds of this. easy, medium, then hard. the targets will move in these three different speeds. get everything on easy mode, she can only select prices from the easy section. get all in the medium, she can get prices from the easy or medium stack. and lastly, the hardest. if she gets all of them, she can pretty much pick whatever in this booth.

simple enough, easy to understand. so when the local pulls the lever, the targets begin to move rather slowly. and this here, chizuru will get her first glimpse of what kind of weapon jinx's been referring to since they've known each other. this girl's been in a relaxing pose around chizuru up until now. and now, here she stands -- eying the targets in complete focus with her body stiffen tight like a soldier. )

( and it's so sudden with the way she moves. the toy gun twirls fast in her hand then her arm shoots up -- pulling the trigger with the pellets soaring out its barrel. and naturally, she hits every target right at the center. and still moving hastily, jinx unhooks the back of the toy gun to insert more pallets as the local speeds up the second set.

then again, she aims and shoots, not missing a beat. the look on her face is hard and emotionless. an expression of someone who's been in battles, who's killed in those battles, and a warrior with enormous amount of training underneath their belt. and finally, the last round -- the speed of the target is pretty intense but there's no hint of any doubt or nerves on the girl. to the booth runner's surprise, jinx hits every single one of them with great ease. )

( everything comes into a stop but her arm is still up; body remaining at a still. ... but after a second, she spins the toy gun with her hand again then sets it on the counter. her gaze darts sharp to the local (which causes him to slightly jump with how... intense she is being) with a light cock of her head. )

The trigger's getting sticky.

( a food for thought to him before she sways to look over at chizuru; no longer the emotionless look or a look of a human firearm. jinx is back to her old self with a smile on her face. )

[ Chizuru's reply may be a little bit muted, but she is replying, even nodding her head a little. It's mostly muted because she's still thinking about what she saw there just now. In a way it almost reminded her a little of the way Neopolitan did pretty much the same thing for her almost half a year ago now - playing these games almost a little too well before winning her a prize like this.

Even their focus seems kind of similar, though Jinx's kind of focus here goes even beyond what she saw from her friend back then.

When the owner of the game moves to grab the prize for her, Chizuru is still looking at Jinx, rather than at the local.

Because there's something on her mind. As her brain churns these thoughts, as Chizuru goes over everything she saw just now-- ]

Um, though, Jinx.. [ There's something she has to ask. Something that feels important in the face of all that. ] .. did you have fun playing it?

[ Because even with Chizuru not being too used to these carnival games, she doesn't think that necessary seemed like the expression or body language of someone having fun with a game. ]

Hm? ( jinx cocks her head but then the owner clears her throat for one of them to take the prize. oh! the girl grabs it from his hold and then back to chizuru. )

Oh yeah! It reminded me of home, really! Buuuut I think if it had an even faster setting, I woulda had a real tough time.

( she extends it the doll out to her. )

Here ya go! You gotta give it a name or it won't come to life.

[ Apparently Chizuru at least accepts the answer for what it is. Partially since she knows Jinx doesn't like lying - so surely she must be telling the truth right now - and partially since she's worried that she herself was just overthinking this entire thing.

So rather than questioning it more, Chizuru just takes the plush toy from her, immediately wrapping it up in her arms. It definitely makes Chizuru look a little younger than she really is, especially considering the babyface she's got going on. ]

.. to life? [ Her eyes are so wide, hanging onto the other girl's every word. Sorry, stall owner, you've been totally forgotten over here. ] Are these magical?!

[ She might be taking this a little too literally.. ]

( there's something cute about the way she holds the plushie toy like that. and although jinx had become pretty protected over the girl already, it only makes her want to shield her from everything that's wrong with the world even more. giggling, something is telling her she is probably taking what she is saying so hard. and as much as she would love to egg this on, she'll clarify:)

Not real magic, just pretend. But I can make 'em come to life with my own lil' magic.

( all pretend except her guns. they are different and totally real. )

So, give it a shot! Make it a good name.

[ There's a small 'oh' sound, half-surprised and perhaps even half-disappointed as the idea floats right out of her mind.

But that doesn't mean she won't still take this pretty seriously. After all, if Jinx is telling her to make it a good name, then Chizuru really has to think here for a moment to make sure it's a good name. She's looking down at the plush animal with a concentrated frown that would imply more that she's playing a chess match than thinking of a name for a plushie... ]

Then.. I'll call him Yuki.

[ Apparently that's what she's come up with after those few moments of intense thought, looking back over at the other girl. ]

That means 'snow' where I come from, and he does have a lot of white on him.. [ It's not even like Chizuru knows where penguins live.

Guess she just got lucky with this one. ]

Hmmm....

( she pretends to really think over the name before approaching a little closer. although the doll is still in chizuru's hold, jinx gently places her own hands over the penguin's head -- lightly jiggling around and then making a silly accent: )

❝ Whoa, whoa! Yuki is an amazing name! Wow, that's the best name I've ever heard. You're the best at that.❞

( it's a shame the girl doesn't care for the orphanage in trench. otherwise, she'd really be good at puppeteering. )

❝ Hangin' on that wall was soooo tiring! Thank you for picking me. I hope we can be friends and I can make you smile.❞

[ That's definitely a sound of amazement.

Let's be real - Chizuru is way too old to believe that's really the animal talking. Even with how gullible she can be, that would just push the limits of even how gullible Chizuru is. And yet she sounds amazed all the same.

Not because of the animal 'talking'.. but maybe more so at Jinx doing this in the first place. It's such a surprisingly soft thing. ]

C-Cute... [ She sounds a little surprised as she speaks, but amazed even more than that. ] You made him so cute, Jinx..!

Me? I'm not doin' much.

( playing innocent as she makes the penguin jiggle lightly again. )

❝Boy, oh boy! I'm getting sleepy. I'm going to take a nap in your arms now. Good-night!❞

( a nice little excuse to get the penguin to be active for now. with a giggle, she takes a step back with her fingers intertwine behind her back. )

I think Yuki will be happy with you. I can just tell.

[ The moment Jinx giggles, Chizuru is giggling right along with her - almost in tandem. It's really impossible to show any other reaction in the face of a display this cute, right? It makes Chizuru only hold the penguin a little tighter, like she really is hugging it in this moment..

And sure, she may be a little bit too old to do that in public, but.. it's fine. Chizuru knows Jinx won't judge her, and what's more important in this moment than that? ]

It must be right if you're the one saying it. [ Chizuru smiles, looking right over at Jinx. ] You sound like a real expert, after all.

[ .. the girl grows quiet though as a thought quietly sneaks up on her. She keeps glancing at Jinx first, but then she looks back at the stall, and then at Jinx. ]

But.. didn't you want one too..? Should I try to win one for you too..?

( the offer is sweet and her smile grows warm and gentle -- her muscles relaxing further as she lets go of her own fingers. )

I wouldn't mind one. ( her tone is just as tender as her smile. ) — Yuuki is gonna need a friend in case you're off spendin' time with me or your other friends. He's gotta have someone to talk to and drink tea with!

( imagine, two stuffies sitting at a table drinking tea and gossiping. knowing jinx, she'd probably set up for the two dolls to do just that in a living room somewhere. is it concerning? possibly. but just had always treated things more like they're alive and human beings than... actual human beings. )

[ Apparently Chizuru is quick to agree, seeing no problem with this. It's rather cute, the way Jinx seems to be so fond of these plushies.. And if the other having one would make her happy, then there's no way Chizuru couldn't at least try to get her one.

Emphasis on try. She doubts she's going to be as good at this game as Jinx..

But that's not stopping Chizuru from at least attempting it.

She holds out the penguin towards Jinx. ]

Can you hold him for me then while I play the game..? [ Can't put him on the ground! What if he gets dirty!! ] And.. um, maybe explain to me how the game works, if you don't mind?

[ Look, Jinx was so amazing at it that Chizuru was too busy being kind of in a daze staring at it to realise the finer details of the game. ]

(the blue-haired girl happily takes the penguin out of the other's hands, but when she asks on how to play, she puckers up her lips in thought. it probably would be better to teach someone by showing than telling, she thinks. so coming to that decision, she sets the penguin down carefully on the booth counter.

then, she inches closer to chizuru -- taking the toy gun in her hand.)

Right! Sooooo... what you do is try to hit the target that's spinning. Riiiiight at the center.

( jinx maneuvers behind the girl to help positioning how her arms should be, then placing the gun in chizuru's hand. but she doesn't let go of it; so it's like the two of them are holding the toy together and aiming at the first target that's not active yet. )

You need to tilt your head too, more this way. Then close one eye so you can focus more and line up the shot. I don't need to all the time 'cuz I've been doing this for a while, but helps with beginners.

[ Something about Chizuru seems a little nervous.

It's not too obvious, so it might have been hard to tell to any third party watching this, but with Jinx touching her? It's probably more obvious to the other that Chizuru almost seems to wince a little when she gets the fake weapon placed into her hands. Sure, it's just a toy gun, but it's just a little too close to weapons she has seen cause terrible harm back home to the people she loves, so she startles a little bit.

Even as she keeps holding it, her body seems a little more rigid than usually. ]

O-Okay. [ Still - she does her best to listen to the explanation.

She does want to win Jinx a prize too. It's important. ]

It's a little scary. [ She at least admits that, even if it's a little on the soft side. But she wants to try being honest here, even if she usually wouldn't be. But she's-- she's dating Jinx, so it's also important to be honest. ] But I'll try to do my best for you.

( sure, jinx can get oblivious at times, but she is taking note on the other's body language, the wince, and the uncertainty. it's to be expected, really. rabbits are sweet creatures, usually. some can be rabid and vicious -- out of the three, vi is the most feisty on. chizuru, on the other hand, is the gentle side and skittish (even though she is a demon).

to reassure her, she keeps close and keep their hands together with the gun. )

Just remember. It's just a game. Once you see how it goes, I promise you'll see there's nothin' to be scared about. ( she continues to coo sweetly in her ear. ) Will it help if we shoot the target together?
