July 1 - 9
By now, his hair was a deep shade of violet and shaggier looking than usual, and his eyes had taken on a somewhat cat-like appearance with a faint yellow glow. His fingernails, having morphed into claws, poked through the fingertips of his gloves, and he walked slightly hunched, like he was a feral animal on alert for attack. Anyone who tried to stop him from acting on his impulses was met with a snarl and a baring of his fangs. If they backed off, he might leave them alone, but there was just as likely a chance he'd attack anyway. But, if anyone continued to bar him from his goal, he would most definitely fight them.]

[it's like someone flipped a switch the second the month turns! but that's how it gets around here, isn't it? sudden changes, new moon phases...
still, this one's a bit tough to adjust to gracefully when it's this warm even at night! Manabu had hoped a stroll from the Roost in Cellar Door would cool him off from the stuffiness of indoors, but it's stuffy outdoors too! he sighs, tugging at the collar of his shirt as he ambles, following the hazy glow of lamplight, on his way to one of the teleporting lanterns.
as they go, his omen, Magnet, ambles along with less care for the weather. he's the one who catches wind of the unseemly noises and feeling of eyes following them. the omen stops, ears cocked and nose twitching, now on alert.]

as he starts to look around, his hand falls to the holstered pistol on his hip.
quietly:] ...What's out there, Magnet? [he's answered with a low growl.]
no subject
You won't stop me!
no subject
the echoed growl was disconcerting enough, but when Manabu turns and sees a shape lunging out of the dark, he quickly lifts the pistol and fires at it before using the momentum of his move to hasten out of its trajectory.
adrenaline spikes, sending popping sparks of electricity up through his scalp. Magnet doesn't waste time in meeting lunge for lunge, ready to jump in and chomp a limb to stop its assault on his person.]
no subject
He raised his hands then, firing off several sharp icicles at Manabu. Projectiles, huh? Keith could do that, too.]
no subject
Manabu brings up his forearms to shield his face as ice zips past him, lacerating fabric and skin alike on their way. where blood is drawn, sparks flicker and pop, attracted to metal and the ends of his hair as a long-standing static.
while Magnet jumps up to latch onto one of Keith's arms, Manabu darts down the street in search of cover, hopping over an idle wagon while he checks his pistol's settings and watches shadows moving on the wall nearby to give him an idea of where he's at.]

July 10 - Closed to Lance & Sasuke, possibly Sakura later, Death
It was inevitable she would. Each time Keith had done something 'wrong', Natives would shake their heads and mutter that The Reckoning was near. At some point, The Evil's hold had wavered, and Keith found himself at the beach, a strong sense of self-loathing falling over him. He stared at the water, and, for just a moment, it looked as if he would just surrender himself to the waves.
But she came.
It was intended to be swift. His rap sheet was too long anyway now. He'd hurt people in all kinds of ways. The loathing he felt was part of it, maybe... but he didn't want to fight her. He was on his knees in the black sand, head bowed, looking defeated. She raised her massive sword...]
no subject
And he's been possessive to a degree, sees and feels himself needing to always know where Keith is and if he's okay and to make sure nothing happens to him. There's even a violent side to it that tells him to make sure nobody can have him or hurt him in the most final way possible. That side of it he manages to swallow down and keep at bay, either because it's not as strongly infecting him as it is others or because he's an old hand at this. But he won't let this place force him to hurt someone he loves, not again. He'd kill himself first.
Something is off today, he can feel it, he's been tracking Keith, knowing that something was coming. If the locals' constant talk about the Reckoning wasn't clue enough and reason enough to desperately try to track him down today, he's not sure what is. The beach seems to be where they have a lot of their biggest emotional moments and he's always drawn there anyway.
He sees Keith and the Reckoning and he activates his powers to rocket himself over there in a burst of star light.] NO!
[And he's not sure if he's ever summoned energy so bright and intense, not even when Hunk turned back into a squid. But on pure instinct he sends a massive blast up at Reckoning's sword. Maybe he can just delay her, then grab Keith. But there's bound to be a massive explosion and he immediately turns to him while trying to throw up an energy shield (not his forté) and grab him to try and pull him up.]
Come on! [He doesn't even ask why Keith is just sitting there waiting to die, he doesn't need to. He's been there, he understands. And he's not interested in arguing with him on it right now.]
no subject
Keith was stunned for a moment as the expected punishment didn't come, and Lance yanked him away from the massive sword's path. There was a moment where his shock made him numb and essentially dead weight against Lance's urgent pulling. Then a panic set in, and just as the blast hit the sword, eliciting the Pthumerian's angry cry, Keith's instincts threw an ice shield around them as well. It cracked slightly, as it wasn't his best attempt, and the heat from the star blast started melting it almost right away, but Keith wasn't exactly in the right state to immediately react to Lance's 'rescue' with anything other than compliance. He did move then, letting Lance drag him several yards before he finally reacted.
His reaction was to dig in his heels.]
Lance! What are you doing? [His voice cracked slightly.] She's just going to punish you, too!
no subject
He's not entirely in control of himself and that's why both his hands come up to cup Keith's jaw on either side. But the small part of him that is more grounded and more focused on getting Keith away from here stops him from doing anything more intimate than that as he looks into his eyes. The look he has is fierce and determined and a little unhinged with something softer underneath. His voice is choked with emotion.]
I know. I don't care. Now, please, let's go!
no subject
Well, I do! [Keith placed both hands firmly on Lance's chest and gave a hard shove.] I'm not going to let someone else get killed because of my stupid mistakes!
no subject
Oh yeah? So what'm I supposed to do? Just- just leave you here to die? Or watch? You know that's not happening, Keith!
no subject
[Keith tried to pull his hand free again.]
Please, Lance... don't let her get you, too. She's not going to give up.
[Keith was ready to beg him.]
I can't see you die for me.
no subject
Reckoning is upon them now and he tries to tug on Keith again, a watery and desperate quality entering his voice. An unhinged and familiar edge of grief and agony that's not fully left him for years breaking through.]
There's never any real guarantees! What if you don't come back?! What if I lose you again!? I can't- I can't just walk away! And you wouldn't either! Why? Why are you just giving up when I-
[He's cut off by Reckoning raising her sword and he half snarls, half sobs as he steps forward and releases a massively dense and bright star from his hands to meet her blade and try to slow it down with gravitational force.]

cw: suicide by Pthumerian, beasthood gore
July 11 - 17, Squid Time, Recovery, Gradual loss of squid-ness
He mostly looked like himself. A few lingering shiny spots from squid-dom that hadn't quite faded. There was a new scar where The Reckoning had taken her kill. At his left temple, a thin, barely visible streak of white hair... with a subtle violet tint. Most of the time, it could be hidden if his hair hung the right way, but, when pushed back, it was visible in stark contrast to his normal black hair color.
Once up and around, he was quiet, quieter than usual, and insisting on staying put inside the house. The Evil had left him for now, but he was afraid it would come back again, afraid that he would become a target for The Reckoning again. Also, the knowledge of Shiro's beasthood, that Lance had also died that day on the beach, it was hitting him hard. He'd dragged his team down with him. His friend. His brother. And it was all on him...]
no subject
At first, he doesn't really seem to recognize him, but he just needs to process and then it fully hits him. He blinks a few times in rapid succession and then looks down and away, clearing his throat.]
Uh… hey.
[There's a bundle of fabric next to where Lance sits that looks like a change of Keith's clothes. Yes, he's completely forgotten it's there and he was going to offer it and everything. But a lot happened and he still hasn't processed it all.]
no subject
What...
[How do words work?]
no subject
We're um, in Sasuke's garden.
[Yes, that explains everything, good job, Lance.]
no subject
Sasuke...
[Sasuke's garden. But... they'd been... The Reckoning... There was a flash of memory, and Keith cringed, squeezing his eyes shut again and clenching his jaw.]
We were...
[Sentences were hard.]
Squids?
no subject
Yeah… try not to think too hard about it.
no subject
[Honestly, not thinking hard about it sounded like an amazing idea, but his brain wouldn't let him let it go.
He remember Lance coming for him on the beach... trying to save him... then pain. He cringed again, taking in a sharp breath before finally forcing himself to move. Maybe, if he didn't just lay there on the stone, he wouldn't think as much. He groaned a bit, and gingerly pushed himself up into a sitting position.]
Are those... clothes...?

Oh, right. Yeah… those're yours.
