That may be the single most naïve thing I've ever heard.
Humans love hurting things that aren't hurting anyone. They do it for fun. They pick out what they consider the weakest links and then they torment them for their amusement, because it's fine if there's no consequences. It's why they hit their children, it's why they torture animals, it's why they go out hunting for things to incite a reaction out of so they can kill them for sport.
Don't pretend like you're different. You're not.

Fakir can't say none of that happens. As a child, he helped Mytho save animals from being beaten. And later, shamefully, he'd turned a blind eye to some such actions, to keep Mytho from being beaten.
He'd slapped Mytho, once. Karon had slapped him, once. Neither of them had done it for fun. They'd done it because they were afraid. (Maybe even Kraehe, cruel and mocking as she can be, does what she does because she's afraid.)
Where the hell did a child come up with notions like this?
