Luke can't say anything to that; he's so bad at being idle, he can't even settle on any one place to live, still drifting between places even though it had been months since he arrived in this place. It didn't help that he couldn't shake the Rebellion mindset, always feeling like he needed to be moving so someone -- or something -- couldn't catch up with him, but just what that was in this place had him at a loss.

"I'm glad you found a place to stay," he replied, a small smile on his face. "As for staying busy... well, there's no shortage to things to do around here, that's for certain."

He's noticed that his uncle hasn't found a place of his own, and he's a little concerned that he lives with Maul relatively often. But he's also learned that that's an argument that he'll lose.

"You're welcome to stay, whenever you want. It has a workshop, but I don't have a lot to work with yet."

But he usually builds training droids and writes algorithms, so that part of his skill set isn't well-adapted to the Trench.

"I picked up a shift at the orphanage, to help with cooking and cleaning up." He takes another bite of pastry.

"I wouldn't mind stopping in for the night every now and then," Luke admitted, before giving his nephew a sheepish look. "I'm... still in the mindset like I'm in the Rebellion. I feel like I just can't stay in one space for very long."

Some habits were just hard to break, and he couldn't help but wonder how long it will take him to settle after the war is over at last. He doesn't dwell on it for very long, as the mention of the orphanage perks him up a little.

"I stop into the orphanage every now and then," he said. "I like to look after the kids there."

Anakin's expression is gentle, understanding. "It's hard to shake the feeling of being hunted."

He knows from experience. But he doesn't elaborate.

"I'm sure they-- and the other volunteers-- appreciate it."

He takes another bite of pastry. "At least adoption rates are pretty high."

Though the events that lead to the children being orphans and the scars they carry with them distress him more than a little. His sense of duty makes him want to fix it. But his common sense knows it's not that easy.

Luke nodded silently, deciding not to ask. He could imagine the children of Rebellion heroes, especially himself and his sister, would be a highly valued target for any remaining Imperials or bounty hunters that were around. Anakin really didn't need to elaborate; instead he took a bite out of his snack, chewing thoughtfully, before peering over at him.

"Don't get any ideas," he teased gently, as if Anakin would adopt a child himself.

Anakin is relieved that his uncle doesn't ask. He's avoided talking about the less-than-comforting aspects of the future. It would just upset him for no reason.

Anakin responds with a teasing smile.

"Not ready to be 'great-uncle' yet?"

Luke gave him a sideways glance, an amused look coming to his face.

"I'm still getting used to be an uncle, thank you!" he exclaimed. Not that he couldn't wait for Leia to have kids now; of course, he would be patient and all that, but as soon as Leia's children were born, he was absolutely going to spoil them with as much affection as he could.

"With the way things are going lately with arrivals, maybe you'll end up as a great-uncle without me even adopting anyone."

It's a thought that's crossed his mind. He wonders how it would feel if a niece or nephew of his showed up. Maybe even a child of his own. Or a padawan.

He thinks he'd probably love them as easily and readily as he loved little newborn Ben.
