Dorothea seems to be off. She's more skittish than usual, even to those she may have formed even the slightest of connections to. Her own patrons will notice that she still acts like a cornered animal whenever someone gets too close. Her hair might puff up, she shrinks back from touch, and she's quick to bite if she feels she has to defend herself. People can put two and two together pretty easily: whatever illness that has made the Tower so odd has spread out to others.
The fear she's feeling will slowly start to spread out through the month. Those who have Dorothea as their patron Pthumerian will start to feel the impacts earlier than others, but soon it's going out into the general Sleeper population. It starts off with a tiny voice in the back of the mind, one that alerts danger, even if there isn't anything immediately threatening in the area. It's quiet at first, but becomes louder and louder, until the fear becomes overwhelming.
People will start to respond to it with their natural instincts of fight, flight, or freeze. Some people might try to blend into the background and keep away from strong social settings. Others might start to lash out, fighting with anyone who crosses their path because they could be the threat. People can even go so far as to try to kill those they're close to simply because they don't trust them to be safe.
But that rational side might still try to break through. The constant tug of war can leave people questioning what's real, where the danger really is coming from, or if there was any danger to begin with. It's hard to get the answers or to calm down enough to look for concrete proof when the heart is racing as fast as it is, clouding the mind from being able to handle reason.
If a Sleeper fights their natural instinct and tries to trust others, the effects seem to lessen, but they never fully go away. The small underlying feeling of fear will be there throughout the month, no matter how hard someone tries to fight it.
Note: Not everyone will be hit by this curse. You may opt-out by simply having your character not be effected. For those who are already dealing by paranoia or distrust from their blood impacts, the effects will be that much stronger and more difficult to fight, and more likely to escalate to violence.

It feels like a dream, but the world around is so solid and real, it's hard to tell if that's true. Everything is pitch black at first and the Sleeper stuck in this new place will feel a heavy weight on their chest. What's most noticeable right off the bat is how cold it is. Colder than it was back in Trench, an almost stabbing pain all over the skin, and it wouldn't be over the top to worry about frost bite. The pressure that's pushing onto the Sleeper's chest will become more noticeable all around them, like there's some sort of vice grip on their entire body.
A beam of moonlight breaks through the darkness and it's then that they are able to tell where they are: under water. Trapped under the ice of a large lake, one where shore seems completely out of reach. Swimming to the top will make it clear that while the ice has cracks on the very surface of it, they're superficial, and it may feel difficult to break through. Trying to use powers to break through the ice will make it clear very quickly that powers don' work in this water.
Is this it? Is that the end? Continuing to swim to try and find a hole may feel pointless, but those who choose to will eventually find that they run into another Sleeper or two. It's hard to communicate underwater, likely, especially when it seems like the omnis don't work to project thoughts to one another the way they usually do. But if the Sleepers can figure out how to communicate, they might find that coordinating their movements to push up against the ice will start to make a loud, rumbling noise fill the water.
The ice is starting to crack. It just takes team work.
Fighting one another or resisting will bring about the very obvious feeling of drowning. Even those who can breathe under water will find that they are unable to in these moments. The only option to get out is to work as a team. So long as they cooperate, Sleepers can break a hole through the ice, escaping the frozen water.
Crawling through the hole in the ice will bring them out of a manhole in a random street of Trench. The lake will be gone and the water too. Those who don't crawl out fast enough behind their teammates will find that the hole disappears entirely and they're forced to start all over.

There's one thing that's always nice about the holiday seasons lining up across so many worlds: people get to share the stories of their homelands with one another. Traditions are passed down, legendary figures are explained. People will find that they're even more compelled to share stories from their home, whether it's about a winter holiday they deeply enjoy, or even fairy tales that they were told as children. Th urge to share will feel completely natural, even if it's just to one person rather than a whole group.
But there's always a catch in Trench. As stories are shared, the figures that they're focused on will start to manifest throughout the city as actual, real beings. Santa Claus, shoemaking elves, Snow Queens... Anything is up for grabs, but they won't be exactly like the figures that people spoke of. Their eyes will glow a deep red and their skin will be covered in bleeding wounds, dripping red paths across the snow. These strange versions of these legendary beings will haunt the streets of Trench, attacking anyone they see who doesn't look like them.
It will become clear that there's violent demons about as Trenchies (or even Sleepers) start to show up dead in the snow. Their deaths never seem to be gentle, but instead a clear product of a frenzied blood lust. People may have been brutally stabbed, or ripped to pieces and scattered. Even if the characters in a Sleeper's story were good people, even heroes, their Trench counterparts only want to destroy.
Killing these demons at least seems to be extremely easy. Luring them in with a blood sacrifice is probably the simplest, but people can try to find them and corner them throughout the city as well. Destroy their eyes and the demons will vanish. This can be done by attacking the face directly or by cutting off the head and destroying it. This information is not readily available however, so it will have to be done by trial and error until Sleepers can start to share the information with one another as the month goes on.

"Would the Senshi be the same without you? Would someone else simply take your place? Would we even exist in the system if it weren't for you and your mother?" It isn't only those who want to do harm always seek the power of the crystal. All of the Senshi look towards that light, especially the Outers in those old days.
"Would anyone else allow the Outers to come in from the cold and stand next to them?" Saturn, who was always slumbering deep within the planet only to awaken at the time of destruction. "Where would I be if it wasn't you who held the crystal, who shone as a beacon so far from the center of our system?"
"You are not nothing, you are our friend, our queen, our hope and strength, and our beloved Sailor Moon. We are stronger simply because you are you, when you are happy, when you are sad, when you are angry, when you are weak, or when you are strong. There's nothing we want more than to simply be able to stand at your side through it all. No one else could take your place in our hearts."

'It was your destiny to come to this place where there is light and darkness,' Chaos' voice fills her mind. 'Darkness calls out to the light, light calls out to the darkness. Our destinies are one. The time has come for the light and the dark to once again unite, to bring an end to it all!'
Her own memory finished the thought as Chaos rose, Chibi Chibi revealing herself as another, a different senshi, a senshi she knew but didn't know. She remembered throwing herself into the cauldron, their birthplace.
"I understand why they seek out my power," she whispered, reciting the words from a memory that felt so long ago and just a moment ago all at once. "Because they all feel for it the way I feel about my friends and the people I love, we are all lonely stars, and we seek to gather together as one..."
'I will seek you out... I will embrace you all...'
She closed her eyes and leaned into Saturn's hold, her own lonely star and light seeking out Hotaru's and finding comfort in it, being embraced by it.
Usagi pulled her hands away from Mamoru's head and reached up to cup Saturn's cheeks, regretting smearing blood on her cheeks, but they were senshi, soldiers, they were used to blood. The Goddess of Death and Destruction especially so.
"I must not lose hope," she smiled. "And I must not forget who I am fighting for, the reasons I have to keep going. You are my reason, you are all my reasons. Even our beloveds who are not here," she tilted her head. "Thank you for reminding me, Saturn that I do not stand alone, that I exist in others hearts as brightly as you all exist in mine."

It was easy for Saturn to be the reminder that from the ashes and rubble of destruction and death, life sprang up. She was Sailor Moon's opposite, the other side of the same coin, the melody to her pulsing harmony. When she dropped her glaive, it was Usagi's crystal that allowed them to endure and continue on. Not always in the same way, but sometimes, a better life rose up.
Before, they were all souls that drifted so far apart. Their hearts holding on to the thinnest thread from the light they saw from afar, guarding and protecting - doing their duty even though the darkness of space separated them. Now, the four can stand next to their light and attempt to prevent that glaive from falling once more. They can share their life, through all its joys and sorrow in a way they couldn't have before.
That loneliness didn't feel so deep and dark as it had in the past. It hardly takes anything to reach back to the light that Usagi stretches out to her now. A faint smile graces Saturn's lips. "We are not as lonely as we once were. Getting to be with you, it's a dream."
So many others have come because of Usagi's light, not just all of the individuals who wanted to covet it or even the ones who wished to protect it. Those who were in need of help, too, had seen its brilliance and sought refuge in that warmth and strength. Were reminded of the light that existed within them as well.
The blood is cool upon her cheeks, exposure to the winter air chilling it now that it no longer sustains the creature's life. She lifts both hands to cover Usagi's, curling her fingers around them to squeeze tightly. This death may have caused suffering, but it's also beautiful in its own way - a renewal of hope and courage that blooms from it.
"Should you ever falter in your hope or strength, we will be there to support you and help you through it. Just as we know you will do the same for us. Our love and bond is strong enough to hold us up, no matter what we face." Saturn tilts her head in so that their foreheads press together gently. "Hope always shines brightest in the face of despair."
no subject
Saturn's words were a balm on her soul, a bridge across the chasm in her heart. She was so... exhausted. She was so tired, and sometimes she wanted to drop the glaive herself on this world. But then her beloved, precious people reminded her again and again and again how wonderful this world was and could be, how she did not need to face any of this alone.
Tears fell from her eyes, but they were not tears of despair or anger or rage. These were tears of relief, a reminder that the weight on her shoulders was not her burden to carry alone.
"Thank you," she whispered. "Thank you for being you," she shifted and pressed a kiss to Saturn's brow, right on the jewel of her tiara. "You are one of my precious people, you are one of the reasons that I can keep going, here and anywhere else," she smiled, warmth filling her chest. "Being beside all of you, making a life full of memories good and bad with all of you, that is my truest, fondest wish."
She cried, silently for a bit before she finally set down the mimic Mamoru's head. She inhaled, her fingers lingering along his cheeks where she the gouges from her own fingertips were etched into his skin. She exhaled and her fingers left his skin.
"He is not Mamoru," she said, needing to say it even though she knew he never WAS Mamoru. "He is not my beloved, he is not your king," she slowly began to stand, her legs wobbling beneath her as she had been sitting in the cold for a long time.
"We should get rid of this mockery of Tuxedo Mask, no one should see him like this, even if it is not him."
no subject
No. Now she is so much more than the herald of the end, Saturn is their friend and companion, their ally and family. There is love that exists between her and all of the others, there is no need to slumber because she is wanted and needed in the lives of others.
Yet she cannot fault her Queen for being so tired and forlorn, to let herself falter under the burden that she's carried. Usagi has been here for such a long time, separated from so many of the people she loved and constantly hurt by the events that unfolded here in this place. There is no shame in needing that reminder of love, of having some of that weight lifted. Hotaru is young and bright, there to help fill the days with laughter and light, while Saturn is there to do the heavy lifting and be that calm center in the sea of despair.
"You're welcome," whispered just as quietly. "Thank you for allowing me to help and stand with you. For giving me the joy of being part of your life." Usagi has that right to send her away, to order her back to her home planet to hibernate until it is time to drop the glaive once more. She hasn't done that, and for that both Hotaru and Saturn are eternally grateful. "I will never forget the feelings I shared with all of you."
Saturn doesn't rush Usagi through her tears, or her grief, only offering her steady presence as those feelings are dealt with properly. They both know this isn't the Queen's beloved, no matter his likeness, but this isn't simply about that. It's the extended time away from the real Mamoru, and simply missing the people that Usagi loves - both the ones from home and those she met during her time away.
"He is not Mamoru," spoken as a clear statement. A confirmation of what Usagi already has spoken out loud. "He is a dark mimic, a deception, and a lie." Saturn rises with her Queen, one hand resting on the blond's elbow to help and the other wrapped around her scythe.
"How would you like to dispose of the being, my Queen?" They have many options.
no subject
"Burn it so completely that not even ashes remain." This copycat did not get to have a proper burial, it did not get to be mourned. She would see to it that no one saw that face and mistook it for her beloved's.
"If another one comes, they will all be beheaded with their eyes removed and then burned."
