i couldn't stand the person inside me, i turned all the mirrors around
who: kylo ren + you
what: intro and settling in
where: throughout
when: June, around tdm time
I.
Kylo Ren doesn't cope well with being displaced as he is. Not when the Force around him feels... strange. Not quite as full of life, perhaps dull and muted is the word to use? He doesn't know -- he's gotten the introduction, read the leaflet, listened to the chatter on the beach he'd woken up in a body that felt just ever so slightly off. Like a pair of trousers that once fit but needed to be adjusted for whatever reason.
Now that that disorientation had passed, he picked up the bag of his belongings: a sodden cape, leather gloves, the hilt (which goes on his belt) and the broken pieces of the mask (which he nearly throws back into the ocean upon finding them), and moves throughout the city. For a man so tall, and dressed all in black his attempts at blending in might seem somewhat laughable, as does his not-so-sunny disposition, a scowl that seems almost etched onto his features.
He brushes through the crowd without much of a word or pleasantry to anyone.
And force help anyone who wants to catch his eye.
II. (nightmares)
The way Kylo has always avoided the nightmares and memories that typically plague his sleep? Work and train himself into exhaustion, until his mind is too tired to dream at all. Normally, it works well enough, he can function and behave normally - or as normally as Kylo Ren does. Here, without a purpose or cause to cling to, he feels a bit... lost. And it's simpler to lose track, so he begins to have nightmares. Violent, and vivid. Plunging his lightsaber through his father's heart, the way his uncle had stared down at him, and his only friend -- Tai, being cut down by Ren.
It doesn't only happen during the night, but in the day as well. He pulls himself out of a dream, standing straight where he'd nearly slumped over where he stood to shake the dust out of his mind.
"Don't bother. I don't require any assistance." He says to any single onlooker or one attempting to reach him.
III. (wildcard)

the twinge in the force made him raise his head curiously as a very uncivilised man was roving through the crowd. he raises his voice slightly. ]
Lost?

At least his memory had returned.
Likely, the way to deal was not by not giving everyone who brushed by him a look that could turn them into ash on the spot. Even when it was his own fault.
He barely even notices he's being addressed until he glances around for the source of the man speaking. ]
[ ...Obi-Wan isn't wrong. As much as he doesn't want to admit that particular fact. ]
What gives you that idea?

[The part of Anakin that's always been interested in mechanics notes the crossguard design and ponders what it would take to create a blade like that. The rest of him sneers at such a coarse weapon. The elegant design of a lightsaber with such a pointless addition tacked on.
His grandson is strong. A lesser Jedi would likely have faltered, his swing powerful enough to break through most defences. Anakin stays firm, his blade held up defensively to catch the blow. He was one of the greatest duellists in the Order and his time in Trench had not diminished that.]
There is no try.
[Then he's pushing their blades apart before launching a counterattack, swinging hard and fast to strike before he has a chance to move.]
no subject
[ The blade might seem like an unwieldy mess, and that's because it is, but Kylo wields it in a way that makes the weapon act as the extension of him that it's supposed to be. He knows better than to underestimate Anakin, but he still has a moment where he realizes just how truly powerful the man is with the strength behind the blow he deals. Gritting his teeth, he barely has time to skirt away from his strike, the scent of burning as the blade catches on his arm and cuts through the fabric.
Kylo dances around him, going low and trying to strike out at him from behind to get past his defenses. ]

Continuing on like she has been was her plan, until she saw him wobble, had felt the way his mind had drifted away, like he'd been in a dream.
She's not sure he even realizes it's her when he tries to wave her off.
"Liar." Her voice is flat, so much anger at him bubbling beneath her surface, but Force be damned she's concerned too. He didn't look well.
no subject
He's used to running on little sleep but not to this extreme, the dark circles are more pronounced than usual, stark contrast to his near grey hue pallor.
With that, he glances up sharply. Sure enough, Rey is in front of him, her anger bubbling over and bleeding into her signature.
"What," he bites through gritted teeth, straightening back to his full height, "do you care?"
To his credit, he doesn't stumble.

She was heading to Dean's, carrying a basket of fruit from the orchard. Ariadne was determined to get him to eat something other than meat or pure sugar. To try to make her offerings as enticing as possible, she made the mistake of looking down into the basket, rearranging things so that the dried cherries--the closest thing she had to candy--were on top.
On brief look. One second of shift in her focus. That was all it took.
Ariadne heard the sound of a bicycle, whooshing by. She looked up, still thinking about how she was ever going to learn to ride that contraption.
Boom!
The girl crashed right into the stranger.
no subject
Instead of crashing painfully into the solid wall that is Kylo Ren, she hits somewhat less painfully.
The cyclist continues to pedal by as if nothing has happened.
"Do people not watch where they're going here." He grumbles, though if it's directed at Ariadne or the individual on the bike, it might be hard to tell.

"WAAAAH I'M GONNA BE LAAAAATE!" It's the only warning Kylo Ren is going to get.
Which is why, while running at full speed, she had no time to slow down as she turned the corner... and ran right into all of Kylo Ren. And considering their height differences and the wall of muscle that is Kylo Ren?
Well, it was no surprise Usagi went from slamming into Kylo Ren to slamming into the ground.
Usagi groaned as she sat up, rubbing her face because she very clearly just ran into a wall.
Except no, not a wall- a person!
"OH MY GOSH!" she bolted upright, a rather impressive trick considering the chaotic whirlwind that just occurred. "I am so sorry!" she bowed in apology. "Are you alright? Did I hurt you?" she asked as she looked up at Kylo, ignoring the scratches on her cheeks and how red her face was from the fall.
no subject
Either way, for her it was more like running into a solid wall. For Kylo, the force is enough to send him back a step, but that's all.
He blinks, scowls, brushes off his clothes though it's not until Usagi jumps back up alarmingly fast does he give a start.
"You might want to take more care in running down busy sidewalks." Kylo grumbles. "Not everyone will be as forgiving as I'm currently being."
This is Kylo being nice.

[ So, before Palpatine declared himself the Emperor, before the rise of Vader. Kylo swallows. There's so much he could tell her, he wants her to know who he is, to get to know who she was beyond the history files he'd found, but... he's not. Well. ]
Kylo Ren.
If you have questions, about... the future, I could answer them.
[ oh right, the doll. He holds up a hand where there is a doll shaped teeth mark in contrast against his skin, but he takes the thing and simply throws it. Problem solved? ]

[The fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire. The Jedi. Palpatine. ... her own imminent death. Padmé knew that it wasn't decades that she had left, and likely not even years, at least in the larger plural sense.]

And it was powerful. Raw, barely tamed power.
He inhaled sharply, fighting against a shiver as he turned around, trying to locate the source of that feeling, before his eyes fell on the tallest man in the crowd...
...and a sudden bad feeling clawed up his spine as a small voice in the back of his head said run.
no subject
He scans the crowd quickly, shoving past poor confused people who's only fault is that they happen to be in his way to stand before ... a ghost? Luke Skywalker is alive, though not through Kylo's fault, it's still very much something he wants to put an end to.
What's unusual is the man before him looks like the old holos his parents used to show him. Sandy blonde and beardless, not a wrinkle on his young face - he almost looks younger than Kylo, even.
He stands in front of Luke, breathing heavily, eyes filled with hatred and perhaps a tiny bit of fear, as he reaches for the weapon at his side.
"You."

The Dark. But also...the certain something he associates with the presence of Skywalkers nearby.
Not a combination he's thrilled about.
So yes, he's looking around, curious, and a little cautious. While wearing robes and a cloak that while are relatively bright colors are otherwise clearly modeled on traditional Jedi style.

But there's an air of something else and as he turns to spot the young man in his all too bright attire, in a style that he might've once worn as someone... around that age. As he seems to look a bit on young side. Younger than Kylo and perhaps even Rey, maybe.
He raises a brow, questioning. Daring him to perhaps stop staring and approach.

The second is the scowl, which makes him come to a stop. It reminds him of a friend and two rivals back home, almost thinking one of them showed up for a brief moment before that hope fades. Not those three, but the guy still looks new.]
Haven't seen you around before, you lost or just get here?

Kylo glances up, brow raised. He assumes he's being spoken to, because he is a bit lost and rather new - but he wasn't aware he was broadcasting such a thing. ]

"Sit down before you fall down," he suggests, gesturing to the waiter nearby to bring another cup. Though they don't stand close to Maul, standing near the edges of the seating area are a pair of warriors with Mandalorian-style helmets on their heads, mismatched armor and weapons at the ready. They follow Maul's every movement carefully.
no subject
For a second he nearly turns and walks in the other direction.
But where would he even go, back to the inn? No thank you. Would he even make it that far? Shoulders slumping, Kylo all but throws himself down in a nearby seat. Not at the same table, but close enough to talk, to ask his question:
"Your security?" He gestures to the helmeted individuals standing around, thinking back to his own Knights of Ren.
