A Sith Lord and a Disney Princess walk into a bar... (Closed)
Who: Darth Maul and Snow White
What: Maul meets Snow White and watches her charm a particularly dangerous animal.
When: Early October
Where: Random street in Trench
Content Warnings: None!
Maul had seen the Nightmare Steed around the city a few times now. It was impossible to mistake the stallion for any of its brethren given the magnificent mane and tail it had plus its sheer size. He'd become fascinated by the beast and was determined to find out more about it. However, Deerington having taught him a lesson, he figured that he should do this slowly and cautiously. After all, between those giant hooves and that lethal horn, he didn't want his first death in this place to come from being gored by a horned horse.
So he'd decided to start with a simple experiment. Tracking the horse's movements, he'd gathered up the supplies he needed. Then he put several piles of food in its path, including fruits, vegetables, bread, cooked meat, and raw meat. He wanted to see what kind of diet such a creature would eat. He waited around a corner, ready to take off if the horse saw him and charged. He waited until the Nightmare Steed came plodding down the street, looking like he was completely fearless.
Maul was so focused on the stallion that he barely noticed when someone came up from behind him. He barely glanced at the young girl, merely putting a finger to his lips. "Keep quiet. I'm trying to see what he's going to do next." The stallion was almost upon the piles of food and Maul went back to watching him intently.

Maul thought over the suggestions of Snow White. Honestly, going out to the woods somewhere and just hacking up a bunch of trees into kindling with an axe was probably one of the healthier suggestions he'd heard to help with his anger management issues. "I don't think I have enough of a noble nature to be a knight, not from the ones I already know personally--" His lips twitched though as he thought of the two Jedi Knights in town. Obi-Wan certainly was the epitome of one, but if Anakin was where the standards were set, maybe Maul could have made a go at being a knight after all.
"But a guard....hmmmm, perhaps there might be merit in such an idea. Keeping people safe is not something I have done much but I am sure I would be good at it." The few times his friends had asked for his help in taking care of a physical problem like a monster, Maul had utterly obliterated it.

The Nightmare Steed is just outright LAUGHING at Maul now.
Snow lightly bopped the horse on the nose with a finger.
"Now now, don't be mean. We have to support Maul with his dream!"

Instead, he focused on what Snow was saying. “I shall definitely have to consider it. I’ve never been one much for protecting people but I have always been a very good warrior. Anyone who needs something wicked defeated should come to me, for I can destroy almost anything when I put my mind to it.” That part at least was the truth. Maul had been meant to be an assassin but maybe in this new city he could become more of a protector of people instead of their destroyer.

"In any case, I shall have to keep that in mind too! But thankfully, I don't need anything destroyed! Oh...Well, I suppose maybe the poison apple."

"You have a poison apple?" Huh, that was odd. But possibly a very useful creation to have around all things considered with how dangerous things could be in Trench.

"Someone's being shy all of a sudden," she giggled, gently patting the horse's neck.
At Maul's question, she nodded.
"Oh yes, my stepmother used it on me just before I came here. That's why I thought this was the afterlife! I was very sure I was dead!" her smile became a bit smaller. She shook her head. "It's a magic poison apple, you see. It's been months and it's still as red and pretty as the day I bit into it. Not even where I bit it is brown or turned. I had to lock it away."

"Interesting," was all Maul could manage at first. He wasn't even thinking of how having a poison apple around could be useful. Mostly, he was just thinking of what kind of woman would be so cruel as to poison their daughter when she was someone as kind as Snow White. Granted, Sidious had tried to kill him many times over the course of his life but never quite so bluntly as to poison him. Mostly, he just put Maul into circumstances that he was sure he wasn't going to be able to survive and then sat back to watch what would happen. "I'm sure my father would have tried to kill me if I hadn't been useful to him." That's why he'd taken Maul captive, to lure out Talzin and dismantle his criminal empire. Fortunately for Maul, things hadn't quite gone according to plan.

She's never HAD it, but it's what she wanted.

"Perhaps we shall both find what we are looking for here in this city," Maul mused. After all, he had so many people now who cared for him here in Trench, and wasn't that what he'd always wanted at his core? In her own way, it seemed that Snow White was looking for that too.

"And that's the spirit!" she smiled. "I always remind myself that I'm the one who can fill the world with sunshine! It's gotten me through so many things, and I always manage somehow."

Maul straightened up just a little bit at the girl's words. While he thought her another naïve optimist, he couldn't bring himself to tear Snow down the way he often did with such types. Part of Maul couldn't believe that. Hmph, he was starting to get soft with people. Or maybe just soft in the head, he wasn't sure which.
"I think I have had enough of dealing with our friend over there." Maul nodded to the Nightmare Steed. "Would you like to get some lunch with me?" He was growing rather fond of Snow even on such short acquaintance and was more than happy to learn more about her during a long conversation over eating something like sausages.

At the question of lunch, Snow White smiled brightly.
"Oh! That would be lovely! I can certainly take time out of my day to have lunch with a new friend!"
The Nightmare Steed seemed to be offended that Snow White was leaving and she stroked his side. "Oh now, don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow with food for you and your big brother. Aren't I always?" she giggled and pressed a kiss to the horse's nose and he seemed to be appeased.
Wrap!
"Goodbye," he said, waving to the Nightmare Steed in a flippant manner as he walked off with the girl. The horse snorted at him, and if a scowl could have appeared on his muzzle, it would have. This wasn't over between the two of them. Next time, it was going to be much more brutal without a Disney Princess there to mediate between the Sith Lord and the Nightmare Steed.
